Message from the President

Being part of an artistic community is great fun.... exchanging ideas, making art together, learning from each other and sometimes just hanging out and having a good time.  For sure, our upcoming Atwater Donnelly concert/ fundraiser and silent auction will be just that- A good time with good folks.  If you haven't purchased your tickets yet, please stop by the gallery next weekend- or send in a check and tickets will be held for you at the concert.  With Labor Day weekend, things begin to wind down in Newport, so it will be super to have something fun to look forward to next month- before the leaves are down and the weather changes.

Hope to see you there!

Join long time PAG member Felicia Touhey as she demonstrates and explains the endless possibilities an artist can explore working with encaustics.  Encaustics are wax based paints that produce a lush, unique surface.  They can be used two and three dimensionally as well as in multi-media works.  They can be painted, layered, and combined with collage materials including photographs.

Felicia has been a print maker for 30 years, combining encaustics with her prints for the past 15 years.  She has taught drawing and printmaking in the Newport area since 1988.  She is a member of DeBlois Gallery in Newport where her work is currently on exhibition.

Please note  - Beach Studios is up one flight of stairs and is not handicap accessible.

"Nan Carey's class was truly inspirational.  Her journals that she shared were creative, whimsical, and beautifully rendered. The Coggeshall Farm with all the animals, the old homestead, and lovely views of the water was the perfect setting for practicing our new skills. There was a wonderful camaraderie among the group and we all left with a resolve to continue daily journaling."
